Description

Situated at the foot of a 2900 meter mountain, Ramsau is the perfect starting point for those wanting to trekking, go longboard riding, head out on a cycling tour, or go climbing in the Alps. Our group will stay in our very own traditional Austrian hut, and while everyone will get their own room, there’s a shared bar, kitchen and communal space to hang out in.

The itinerary is completely open, we schedule the ideal program according to the group’s interest.

An example of the perfect day

After having breakfast with the picturesque southern wall of Dachstein in the background, we’ll head off toward the glacier. Jumping on the cable car, we’ll pass over the ski slopes, leaving the evergreen trees and summer weather behind us. Arriving at the Dachstein glacier, we’ll cross a suspension bridge with an unobscured 360 degree view of Austria’s highest peaks. Here we’ll also find the “stairway to nothingness” – narrow steps that lead to a glass-bottom lookout. This is not for the faint-hearted because there’s 400 meters of absolutely nothing but thin air underneath. But for those who dare you’ll be rewarded by a breath-taking and unforgettable view of the Austrian Alps.

After coming down from the glacier, we hike home from the valley station, and on the way we stop in the best huts for a homemade cheese plate or apple strudel. We will then relax our muscles at home in the sauna.

At night we’ll enjoy grilled meats as the sun sets on a beautiful summer day, washed down with an unfiltered Austrian craft beer. There’s table football for those with a competitive spirit, or you can just sit back and relax while planning the next day’s activities. These plans, for example, might include tackling any one of the many via ferrata in Dachstein. Don’t worry if this sounds daunting; even beginners can climb the mountain-side routes that are affixed with steel cables, ladders, ropes, and other aides. As with the “stairway to nothingness”, the view will be worth it!

It started as a biathlon court, but ended up as a longboarder paradise

The summer cross country training court built in the nearby forest is one of the most special longboard spots in the world. There is no traffic around, the roads are flat, the curves are bound, uphill and downhill between sky high pine trees. We can swim in the nearby lake, play volleyball on the lakeside or just explore the area. There is a summer bob and adventure park, and pro bike riders can also try the bike park in Schladming.

    Q&A

Not at all. There are always people who come alone, so you can be sure that you’ll make new friends!

This is our most familiar trip! If you like to do outdoor activities in the mountain area, then this is your camp! For park skiing and snowboarding and downhill mountain biking the opportunities are world class.

Although it's summer you should expect very changeable weather. On the top of the Dachstein Glacier it might snow, but a real beach time can happen as well, in this case we'll sunbath next to the lake by the house.

It depends on what you're planning to do. If you want to ski, then you should have your equipment and the situation is the same in case of down hill mountain biking or climbing. You'll have the opportunity to rent equipment on sight, but we will also have some test gear with us.

It really depends on what you’re planning to do, the ski pass and the lift ticket for mountain biking is not included in the price, and these are the biggest expenses. If you are willing to do everything, everyday (which is not possible :) ) than you should count with around 60 EUR/day.

You should choose an insurance which expands for the activities you’re planning to do. You should be aware that the blue EU health insurance card and the insurance of your bank card is not valid in most cases.

The tour will be led by Janó the founder of GoBeyond, who has extensive local knowledge of the area and is a part time resident in Ramsau.

4 nights in a classic Austrian mountain hut in rooms of 2 / 4 or 6 people. The house has its own bar, community areas, pool and sauna. Central location, 5 minutes from the trails, lake and other activities.

The local currency is EURO. You can bring cash from home or there are several ATMS, for withdrawals. In most locations you can also pay by card.

For Austria most nationalities don’t need a Visa.

The company is growing up with us and it always reflects our lives and ambitions. Lots of our customers have had kids in the last years (us included), and we believe that you do not have to give up on exciting adventures just because you became parents.

On the contrary, children need adventure and fun just as much as we do - and to be honest we need it more than ever!

In GoBeyond Kids camps both adults and kids can learn and share the same new skills along the way.
