Description

With its unique atmosphere and rhythm, Morocco became a pilgrimage site for the hippie movement in the 1960s. It’s no coincidence that it is now referred to as the North African Mecca for surfers. The coastal villages stretching between Agadir and Imsouane attract surfers from all over the world. During the camp, we will not only catch the best waves at the legendary surf spots but also get to know the culture and lifestyle of the Berbers.

Our base, a villa with a pool located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, serves as the starting point for daily surf trips carefully selected according to the day’s weather conditions, catering to both beginners and advanced surfers. Our surf lessons are provided by Brahim Iddouch, a world champion bodyboarder, and his team. Small group lessons are recorded on video every day, which we collectively analyze in the evening to ensure rapid improvement in our technique.

In the afternoons, after the epic morning surf sessions, we’ll immerse ourselves in Berber culture and be captivated by the local atmosphere. We’ll hike to Paradise Valley in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, visit an argan oil factory, participate in traditional tea ceremonies, explore local bazaars (souks), surf on sand dunes, or, if we wish, relax in a hammam to unwind from the morning activities.

In the evenings, we’ll relax on the rooftop terrace of our villa, and, thanks to our chef, we’ll get to know Moroccan cuisine thoroughly. On one of the evenings, we’ll even prepare a traditional tajine together. We analyze the morning video recordings, discuss surf theory with Brahim, or hop in a taxi to head down to the beach by the ocean.

Six sessions of small group surf lessons with professional English-speaking instructors. Groups are formed based on skill levels, ranging from complete beginners to advanced surfers. Our instructors are Brahim Iddouch, a world champion bodyboarder, and his team, who not only spend time teaching but also hang out with us outside of lessons. You'll learn proper posture, paddling, turning, popping up, and maintaining speed on the surfboard. Safety positioning and understanding the topography of the beach are also covered. One evening, Brahim will provide insight into the world of professional competitions, discussing rules, tactics, and related topics.

With over 300 days of sunshine, Morocco is a perfect year-round destination with little chance of rainy days. Winter months are cooler but still pleasant (air temperatures of 20-24 °C, water temperatures of 17-19 °C).

Maximum of 15 participants, typically from various nationalities. You can join alone, with friends, as a couple, regardless of your surfing level and experience.

We make high-quality content in all our camps. You will receive the photos after returning home to remember all the amazing memories.

Depending on your spending habits, budget 150-300 euros for personal expenses. Since all meals are included, there won't be much need for food expenses. Instead, you may spend on souvenirs from the local markets, drinks, optional transportation, and entrance fees. If you'd like to bring back a handwoven Berber rug, budget for that as well.

The villa's private chef will provide a variety of healthy and diverse meals. We start the day with a hearty breakfast before the morning surf lessons—except when we enjoy the first rays of sunrise from the ocean, in which case we'll have breakfast on the beach. Lunches are often picnic-style, by the ocean or in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. In the evenings, we'll savor traditional Moroccan dishes prepared by our chef at the villa.

Perfect mix of friendly beach breaks and world-renowned point breaks. The diversity of the coastline ensures we'll always find a safe, manageable area, but those seeking a challenge won't be disappointed. Our knowledgeable instructors, well-versed in the local conditions, will decide which surf spot to visit each day, taking into account the current conditions and the group's skills.

Comfortable minibuses pick us up from the airport and take us to the daily surf locations and all leisure activities, and return to Agadir airport at the end of the trip.

Our primary focus is on surfing, but there will also be other activities. We hike to Paradise Valley, visit an argan oil factory, take part in a traditional tea ceremony, explore local markets, visit nearby fishing villages, and optionally try a hammam. One day, we visit Imsouane, where after surfing, we enjoy freshly grilled fish and seafood, followed by an afternoon of surfing on nearby sand dunes. One evening, we prepare a traditional Moroccan tajine with the villa's chef, and Brahim Iddouch introduces us to the rules and tactics of professional competitions. Finally, we relax or party on the rooftop terrace with a vibrant orange sunset.

You will need insurance that covers all surf-related accidents. Please get in touch with us, and we'll be happy to help you find the best option for you.

Program

8-day itinerary

Day 1

Arrival

We land in Agadir, where a transfer awaits us, and in about an hour, we arrive at our villa, where tea and dinner welcome us. We acclimatize and get to know each other by the pool or on the rooftop.

Day 2

The first surf

After a hearty breakfast, we select our boards and equipment and head out to explore the nearby surf spots. Following the morning lesson, we have a picnic on the beach, and lunch is followed by some relaxed free time: those who want can return to the water to catch more waves, and those who prefer can play volleyball or take a beach walk to relax after the first lesson. On our way back, we stop in Aourir, where we immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of Moroccan fishing villages: we take a walk, visit the market, and drop by a pastry shop. In the evening at the villa, we analyze the morning video recordings and discuss the experiences of the first day of surfing.

Day 3

Paradise Valley

In the morning, we have another surf lesson, and then we head into the heart of the Atlas Mountains. We hike and picnic in Paradise Valley, often referred to as a paradise by the locals, and then we visit an authentic argan oil factory, where we can taste various oils and sweets made from them. In the evening, we relax at the villa after a long day while analyzing our morning recordings.

Day 4

Agadir

We wake up early and head to the beach to catch the first rays of the rising sun in the ocean, followed by breakfast on the beach after the morning session. We visit Agadir and immerse ourselves in the colorful hustle and bustle of the souk, amidst spices, rugs, and a myriad of other authentic items. In the evening at the villa, we enjoy dinner prepared by our chef, analyze the morning recordings, and if we feel like it, we go out to Taghazout for a night of partying.

Day 5

Tamraght

After the routine morning surf session, we have a leisurely afternoon. We go to Tamraght, where everyone can try a traditional hammam and get a massage to relax their tired muscles. You can take a walk by the ocean or enjoy a smoothie on one of the terraces. In the evening, we not only analyze the morning recordings but also get insights from Brahim into the world of professional surf competitions.

Day 6

Imsouane

After breakfast, we hop on the minibus and head to Imsouane, home to Morocco's longest and friendliest point break. After enjoying the exceptional waves at this world-famous surf spot, we have a lunch of freshly grilled fish and seafood. On our way back, we stop at a small sandy area to try surfing on sand dunes. We spend the evening as usual: our chef welcomes us with dinner at the villa after a long day, and we analyze the morning recordings, which will feel even better to watch each day.

Day 7

The final session

In the morning, we explore the best spot of the day for the final surfing session, and we catch the waves with much more confidence already. We spend the second half of the day at the villa, taking a dip in the pool and admiring the sunset from the rooftop. For our last evening, the chef prepares a special dinner, and, of course, a farewell party is a must.

Day 8

Departure

A transfer takes us to Agadir airport, where we depart with everlasting memories and new friendships.

The program is subject to change at any times. The final itinerary depends on current weather conditions, swell, tidal movements, the group’s surfing skills and stamina.

I’ve been on quite a few group trips, but GoBeyond’s Morocco tour topped them all! Great organization, excellent programs and the best tour guide in the person of Mendi! I can only recommend it to those who travel with them, you will definitely not be disappointed 🙂

Bogi

Super organization, great programs, fantastic people. We were able to spend an unforgettable week at the highest level in the most beautiful villa in Morocco, with world champion surfers and thanks to our tour guide, Mendi.

Aaron

Everything was great – I’m still under the influence. The team was really cool – I couldn’t have chosen better people, the programmes were extra fun besides the daily surfing, and our instructors are super heroes in my opinion, because I think very few people bring that amount of kindness and energy – especially during Ramadan! All in all – on a scale of 10: extra 20!

    FAQ

Not at all. There are always people who come alone, and you can be sure that you'll find new friends.

Absolutely yes, at least half of the group is always beginners. We've found the perfect conditions for beginners every time, and with the help of the instructors, you'll efficiently master the basics.

The Moroccan coast where we go hosts some of the world's best breaks, regularly visited by professional surfers from all over the world. You won't lack decent-sized waves and spots for advanced surfers. The waves at Boilers, Anchor Point, or Imsouane can even become the best of your life.

We are quite confident that you'll enjoy surfing. However, it's worth coming for the atmosphere of the local villages, Moroccan sunshine, the seaside, and the diverse afternoon programs.

You can expect a private, renovated villa with a swimming pool, offering cozy rooms with 2-4 beds, bathed in light. Additionally, we'll have our private rooftop with a view of the ocean and the Atlas Mountains.

Our private chef takes care of the daily three healthy and hearty meals, introducing us to the best of Moroccan cuisine.

In Morocco, you can use tap water for washing and brushing your teeth, but it's not recommended for drinking. Bottled water is cheap and widely available everywhere. If you like, you can bring a water purifier with you to filter the ocean as well and save on plastic waste.

Alcoholic beverages are only sold in a few places, and they are quite expensive. We recommend that you come prepared for the trip and buy alcohol at the duty-free shop at the airport. After landing in Agadir, we will also make a stop at Carrefour for shopping, but in the Tamraght area, there won't be many opportunities to buy alcohol.

During the day, you can expect sunshine with temperatures of 20-24°C, while in the evening, the temperature drops to 15-18°C. The water temperature is around 17-19°C. You will need boardshorts, a 3/2 mm wetsuit (which is included in the package if you don't have your own), as well as hiking shoes and flip-flops.

The surf lessons are led by Brahim Iddouch, a world champion bodyboarder, and his experienced team. The afternoon programs are also guided by our experienced local guides and the GoBeyond tour leader.

It depends on your spending habits, but budget for around 150-300 euros. Since all meals are included in the price, you won't need to spend much on food. Instead, you may want to budget for souvenirs purchased in the local markets, drinks, possible personal transportation, and entrance fees. If you want to return home with a Berber handwoven rug, you can budget for a bit more.

The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). Bring euros or dollars, which you can exchange at the airport, and later, you can exchange at banks with your passport. There are few ATMs, and the withdrawal fees are quite high. Most places do not accept card payments, so it's advisable to carry enough cash with you.

You'll need insurance that covers all surf-related accidents. Feel free to contact us, and we will be happy to help you find the best option for you.

We're traveling to Morocco, so you should know that diarrhea and stomach infections can occasionally happen. Tap water is not drinkable! It's a good idea to carry a bottle of clean water and a sanitizer with you.

It depends on your citizenship. Most visitors from most countries only need to fill out a free entry form upon arrival at the airport. Please always check the necessary documents on the Moroccan page of your local embassy. Feel free to contact us if you need assistance!

Morocco is a popular travel destination where tourists can feel safe, especially in the southern part inhabited by the Berbers, where we are going. During the camp, we visit small fishing villages that have been supporting themselves from the supplies of Western country surfers for over 10 years. There haven't been any serious incidents so far.
