Description

Indonesia is the largest island country on Earth, made up of over 17,000 islands – though only around 6,000 are inhabited. It’s a place of stunning cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, with an equally mind-blowing range of ecosystems and wildlife. The differences between the islands are so big, it often feels like crossing into a new country – and that’s especially true when it comes to Bali and Lombok.
Though they rise side by side from the warm waters of the Java Sea, these two islands couldn’t be more different in vibe.

Surf Vibes & Balinese Culture

Bali is often called The Island of the Gods – and for good reason. Here, global surf culture blends with ancient tradition: buzzing nightlife meets spiritual Hindu calm, Indonesian street food meets vegan brunch bowls, and yoga sessions flow right into colorful local ceremonies. The island’s special energy and world-class surf spots have already made it a global hotspot. Yet the real, laid-back, soulful surf vibe is still alive if you know where to look.
But we’re not just here for the waves. During our time in Bali, we’ll dive deep into the island’s culture and natural beauty. Think iconic cliffside temples, a front-row seat to a traditional religious ceremony, and two unforgettable nights in Ubud, the spiritual heart of the island. We’ll also explore the lush interior: the legendary stepped rice fields and cheeky monkeys living deep in the jungle are all part of the journey.

Pure Tropical Chill

After the action-packed days in Bali, it’s time to slow things down. We’ll head to Lombok, where nature is wilder, the beaches are quieter, and the vibe is pure tropical escape. This part of the trip is all about surf, yoga, and chill – just at a different pace. The waves are less crowded, and the surf sessions more focused. With regular photo and video analysis and expert coaching, you’ll definitely improve your skills on the board.

Your Guide for the Whole Journey

Your trip leader, Alexa, has been coming back to these islands for over 15 years. Thanks to her deep local knowledge and personal connections, we’ll experience the real Bali and Lombok, far beyond the tourist track. As a true foodie, she’s got your cravings covered, whether it’s exploring street food at local warungs or discovering trendy new-wave cafés. She’s also a certified yoga and body art instructor, making sure your body and mind stay balanced throughout the journey – from post-flight mobility sessions to mellow sunset flows and energizing morning practices.

Accommodation

We spend the first 4 nights in Bali’s current hotspot, Canggu, at a stylish hotel with a pool, rooftop terrace and pool bar – just a short walk from the beach and the buzzing center. The next 2 nights take us to the spiritual heart of the island, Ubud, where we stay in a private jungle villa with its own pool and practice sunset yoga in our villa’s shala.

Then we hop on a boat to Lombok and settle in for 5 nights at a boutique surf resort in Kuta. Our two-person bungalows open straight onto the poolside terrace, surrounded by lush tropical gardens where exotic birds and giant turtles roam free.

Over the course of seven surf days, we hit the waves nine times with experienced local instructors. We kick things off with three sessions in Bali, where we split into smaller groups based on skill level to ensure everyone gets the most out of their time in the water. Thanks to Bali’s diverse coastline, we always find the perfect spot – whether you're a first-timer or already catching green waves. After a short recharge in the jungle of Ubud, we level up in Lombok with six more sessions – a mix of hands-on training and theory. Here, we also record video footage to review and analyze together, helping you progress faster and refine your technique with personalized feedback.

Bali is Indonesia's most popular surfing centre for a reason. Canggu offers waves to beginners and advanced surfers alike and with the help of our local instructors, you're guaranteed to find them. In Lombok, even the most famous beaches have fewer surfers, so the second half of the trip is a more breezy environment to practice in. With beginners, we hit safe beach breaks, and with advanced surfers, we visit more technical point breaks.

Our black belt tour guide, Alexa, not only guarantees that you get to know the true face of Bali and Lombok along the way, but as a qualified yoga and body art instructor, she also pays special attention to regular physical and mental refreshment. Whether it's an energising set of exercises after a long flight, a gentle flow in the sunset or even a dynamic session to start the day and get you pumped, Alexa always times the right exercises flawlessly.

Along the way, you'll be immersed in the local culture as well as the foams of the Java Sea. We visit some of the most iconic temples, explore the vibrant surfing hotspots and the buzzing nightlife of Bali and Lombok, take a day trip to Uluwatu, known for its exceptional temples, exceptional architecture and incredible panoramic views, where we also take part in an ancient Balinese ritual at sunset. In Ubud, the spiritual centre of Bali, we admire waterfalls in the jungle, visit the Monkey Forest and of course, the typical terraced rice fields.

We start each day with a hearty breakfast at the accommodation: fresh fruit, banana pancakes, eggs and of course hot and cold drinks. Breakfast is included in the package every day. During lunch and dinner, we explore the culinary offerings of Bali and Lombok in the best restaurants and authentic warungs. During the 12 days, you have the opportunity to sample all the famous local dishes: rich noodle soups, spit-roasted pork and traditional fried rice will all be on the table.

Tropical climate, plenty of sunshine, 28-35°C. And the Java Sea is a gentle 28°C all year round, so no wetsuit needed, just board shorts and a rash guard, and don't forget your high-factor, reef-safe sunscreen.

Maximum of 14 people, usually a mix of nationalities. Solo travelers, group of friends and couples with varying surfing skills and experience.

The local currency is the Indonesian rupee (IDR). Depending on spending habits your budget for the trip should range from €600-800. For reference, a meal is between €5-23.

Airport transfers and local transport to surf lessons and common activities are included in the package. Additional excursions (e.g. to shops, restaurants, parties, etc.) are covered individually. The most common means of transport on the islands is a scooter, which costs ~5 euros per day to rent. If you don't want to drive a scooter, you can rent a bike at the accommodation or use local apps like Uber. Unfortunately, these apps don't work in Lombok, so you're left with taxis or the backseat of one of your travel mates with a scooter.

We make high-quality content in all our camps. You will receive the photos after returning home to remember all the amazing memories.

You will need an insurance that covers surfing accidents. You can contact us and we are happy to recommend the most suitable one.

Program

12-day itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in paradise

Once we land on the island of the gods, a private transfer takes us to Bali's current hotspot, Canggu, which is also the base for the first half of the trip. After checking in, there's time to refresh in the pool, followed by a session of yoga to help our bodies recover after the long flight. In the evening we continue our acclimatisation to the environment and tropical climate along the beach. Dinner is served in an authentic small beachside restaurant, a warung, from where we can enjoy the view of the surfers at sunset.

Day 2

Surf's up!

After a hearty breakfast, we dive into the Indonesian foams and start our first surfing session. Our instructors assess the surfing experience of the team members and then we form small groups so that everyone can hone their skills according to their level. After a light lunch, we visit one of Bali's most sacred sites and admire the iconic Tanah Lot temple, built on a cliff. We finish the long day with a sunset yoga session and dinner in the centre of Canggu.

Day 3

Ultimate vacation

Again, we start the day with surfing and then dive into exploring Canggu. After exploring the centre's bustling bazaar and exciting shops, we slow down with a flow yoga session in the early afternoon. After recharging, we dive into Canggu's rightfully famous nightlife.

Day 4

Chill pill, Uluwatu

After a few busy days, it's time for a relaxed, laid-back day. We visit Uluwatu, known for its unique temples, remarkable architecture and incredible panoramic views. The full-day programme also includes surfing, a visit to a beautiful temple and the ancient Balinese ritual of the Kecak ceremony at sunset.

Day 5

Jungle hike

After a delicious breakfast, we bid farewell to Canggu, hop on a private shuttle and check into our villa in the middle of the jungle. In Ubud, the spiritual centre of the island of Bali, we can enjoy the special atmosphere of this small town in true paradise surroundings, yet close to the centre. In the early afternoon we visit the Monkey Forest and then have a gentle flow in the villa's private yoga shala. We end the evening at one of Ubud's coolest restaurants.

Day 6

Ancient relics and rice fields

On this day we have the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of Ubud. We visit the ancient Rajah Ampat temple, visit magnificent waterfalls and of course not miss the spectacular terraced rice fields.

Day 7

Journey to Lombok

Early in the morning, we get up and take a quick boat ride out of bustling Bali. Another shuttle awaits us on Lombok before we arrive at our accommodation, a beautiful resort surrounded by tropical gardens. In the afternoon, we relax and then visit a special gastro bar where the brave can even try skateboarding in a pool.

Day 8

Tanjung Aan Beach and meditation

After breakfast, we set off on our first Lombok surfing trip. A true tropical paradise with white sand, turquoise water and pleasant longboard waves. After a light lunch on the beach, we return to our base for a surf theory lesson and end the day with breathing exercises and meditation before dinner.

Day 9

Kuta, the surf capital of Lombok

A really active day with two surfing sessions, between which we recharge on the beach. In the evening, we explore the city's bustling main street, and if you fancy a massage, you can regenerate your tired muscles in one of the studios.

Day 10

Hiking at sunset

We start the day with a dynamic flow and end with a refreshing relaxation. This afternoon's surfing session is recorded and analysed with our instructors the following day to help develop your technique. The evening continues with a moderate intensity hike to the best viewpoint of Seger beach to enjoy the sunset.

Day 11

Surfing at the max

Our last full day of surfing is also our main event. As well as analysing the previous day's footage, we have morning and evening sessions. In between lessons, we recharge our batteries at the local warung. We finish the day with a beach barbecue featuring fresh fish and seafood, and enjoy the evening around a campfire.

Day 12

Farewell

After a hearty breakfast, we head to Lombok airport and return home with everlasting memories and new friendships.

The program is subject to change at any times. The final itinerary depends on current weather conditions and the group’s skills and stamina.

Your tailor-made surfing holiday

As an advanced surfer, would you rather explore more challenging spots with your friends? Or maybe you'd like to go with the family, less surfing and more island hopping? If you're looking for a different time, a trip with family or friends, a little more sport or a more relaxing activity, feel free to contact us with your ideas and we'll be happy to organise the adventure of your dreams.

    FAQ

Of course it's a yes, at least half of the group always consists of beginners. We have found perfect conditions for beginners each year, and with the help of the professional instructors, you will be able to learn the basics simply and quickly.

Indonesia's dry season is in full swing in June, with sunny, clear skies. Daytime temperatures range from 29-30 degrees Celsius, with night-time temperatures of 23-24 degrees Celsius and sea temperatures of around 28-29 degrees Celsius. Although the humidity is lower than in the rainy season, it's generally a good idea to pack light, loose and well-ventilated summer clothes.

Our endlessly enthusiastic tour guide, Alexa, has been a regular visitor to the Indonesian islands for 15 years, so her local knowledge and personal connections will ensure you get to know the real face of Bali and Lombok. Alexa is also a surf camp organiser, yoga and body art instructor, large event planner and a true gourmet guru, who can navigate the world of farmers' markets and small local stalls as easily as he can Michelin-starred restaurants. Surf lessons will be given by qualified local instructors.

Bali and Lombok have become the ultimate surfing destination for a reason, as beginners and advanced surfers alike will find what they are looking for. There are some really challenging, perfect reef breaks on both islands, so you won't get bored, but you can improve greatly.

We have put together a programme to make it fun for those who don't want to surf. We will visit the most important attractions, spend 2 nights in the jungle, go on excursions, take part in an ancient Balinese ritual, party and of course relax on the beautiful beaches.

During the trip we will sleep in 3 different accommodations. On the island of Bali, the first 4 nights will be spent in Canggu, the most popular surfing centre, in a hotel with a pool, a few hundred metres from the centre and the beach. We then head to Ubud in the heart of the island, where we stay 2 nights in a private luxury villa with pool in the middle of the jungle. We then cruise over to the island of Lombok, where we stay 5 nights in a boutique resort with a pool, in 2 person cottages.

Not at all. There are always people who come alone, so you can be sure that you’ll make new friends!

Depending on your spending habits, we recommend €600-800 cash. A meal ranges from ~€3 to €23. You can also spend money on local transport during the trip, there are many options from bike rental to taxi. If you want to return home loaded up with souvenirs, you should plan on that too!

The official currency in Bali is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Although many places accept credit cards, it is best to bring cash so that you can shop in local markets and small shops without any problems. ATMs are also available in Bali and Lombok.

It depends on your nationality, but most citizens require a tourist visa to enter the country. The visa costs 500 000 IDR (~26,5 €) and can be easily arranged online.

Every day we have a hearty breakfast at the hotel and we organise lunches and dinners together. Over the 12 days, we sample all the famous local dishes: rich noodle soups, spit-roasted pork and traditional fried rice will all be on the table in the best restaurants and bars in the area, or in authentic, home-style warungs. Meals are priced according to appetite and ordering, with a multi-course meal available for as little as €25, so this really is the upper limit.

In Bali and Lombok, you can use tap water for showering, but it is not recommended for brushing your teeth, washing your food or drinking. Bottled water is cheap (half a dollar) and available everywhere.

We cannot give official information on vaccinations, because it depends on everyone's individual medical history and physical condition as to what vaccinations you do or do not need. There is no compulsory vaccination, but several can be considered as a precaution. Bali and Lombok have relatively low health risks compared to other islands in Indonesia. You should check with your local health centre to see if you are recommended to have any vaccinations.

Tap water is not drinkable, only bottled water should be consumed. Drinking tap water, drinks made with ice and street food prepared in less hygienic conditions are responsible for the so-called Bali Belly, as travellers call diarrhoea. Frequent hand washing is important and it is a good idea to carry hand sanitiser. As we are travelling close to the equator, sun protection is also particularly important, so be sure to bring high-factor, ocean-friendly sunscreen and a baseball cap or hat!
