This destination is suitable for the whole family: whether you have already surfed somewhere or are just trying it for the first time, this must be the place. An exciting adventure awaits you also if you would rather get to know the hidden treasures of Sri Lanka, full of amazing animals, magical landscapes and local mysteries that are waiting for you to discover.
Sri Lanka is famous for its tea plantations, its stunning rain forests, and its sandy beaches. But, there are also two distinct historical facts that have left a lasting mark on the island: one is the colonial architecture, the other is the thousands of yearsof Buddhist culture that continues to inspire the decorative flair of the island. Children learn about history and different cultures by visiting such places, which gives them an awesome base for understanding the world. The knowledge gained through experiences is much more permanent and helps them to remain open and curious about the world.
But it’s Sri Lanka’s natural landscape that makes this island country especially interesting. Along the way, we’ll visit Yala or Udawalawe National Park where we’ll spot elephants, buffaloes and even crocodiles! Another day we’ll jump on a boat and head out whale watching, and perhaps even spot some dolphins from right up close. We’ll also visit a local turtle farm, where they raise baby turtles – we can witness how they are released to their first journey to the sea.
Of course the itinerary won’t be too packed; we want to leave heaps of time to soak up the unique experiences that Sri Lanka has to offer even in our down-time. Take your time sipping coconut water on the beach or just sit back with a fruit bowl as you watch the waves crash onto the shore. Spending time here is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the days together and make lasting memories as a family.
The duration of the trip lasts from meeting at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) / Colombo until the flight home from the same airport. The flight there and back might take an extra day, depending on where you are travelling from.

Of course, as we are on a tropical island, the camp is not just about polishing our surfing skills, but also about exploring the area. We'll visit a tea plantation where we'll taste the teas. We take a boat trip on Lake Koggala and visit Galle, famous for its unique colonial architecture. We visit Hiriketaya and an ancient Buddhist temple on top of the Mulkirigala cliff.
Depending on the mood of the group, we will go on safari, whale and dolphin watching or visit baby turtles, and in the evenings we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant nightlife around a campfire on the beach or in the jungle.
Looking for a private holiday with your family and friends at a different time? Would you like to stay for a shorter period? Would you like to skip surfing in favour of tea plantations, safaris and beaches? If you're looking for a different date, a trip with family or friends, a bit more surfing or a more relaxing activity, feel free to contact us with your ideas and we'll be happy to organise the adventure of your dreams.
