There’s a theory that real adventure only starts when you’re someplace you can’t get to easily. The kind of place that isn’t a tourist trap, so you can enjoy the major sights without being trampled by others.
After several transfers and a propeller plane flight, we arrive at a paradise that is said to be like Bali 30 years ago, before tourists and international hotel chains discovered it.
Siargao is a completely different world compared to South East Asia’s usual hotspots. The environment, the pace of life, and the people create a truly idyllic setting. You’ll find the locals are smiling and kind, and they speak good English. Unlike many other tourist destinations, there are no “tourist prices” here. The locals are very environmentally conscious as they know the natural environment is their most important treasure. Plastic waste and plastic bottles are not common here, straws were banned here way before European countries even started discussions about the idea.
Everyone gets around on the roads with habal-habal (a small vehicle similar to a tuk-tuk) and between the islands with traditional boats, just as we will, to reach the best beaches and surf spots.
One of the trip highlights is visiting the local market to buy fresh fish, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. We then take our haul to an authentic Filipino island, where a local family cooks a delicious traditional meal for us to enjoy on a white sandy beach.
The island is surrounded by world-class reefs and turquoise water. For those seeking the ultimate Siargao experience, it’s worth taking the board out. All beginners get their own personal instructor because surfing on reef-breaks can be dangerous for newbies. By the end of the trip, your surfing will improve more than you’ve ever imagined, and you’ll definitely form a close bond with your instructor. Experienced surfers can even surf the perfect tubes of Siargao’s world-famous Cloud 9 surf spot.
We planned the itinerary so those who don’t want to surf also have a magical time. We will visit lagoons by boat, explore caves, canoe through the jungle, and, of course, sunbathe on pristine beaches.
The locals love to party, and there’s always a mix of travelling surfers and residents enjoying themselves at one of the island’s gatherings. In fact, there are parties every night at different venues, with the mood set by inexpensive rum cocktails: in Siargao, a double rum is cheaper than a Coke—just make sure you have enough energy for the next day’s surf!

9 nights in traditional style, newly built, thatched roofed, fancy beachside surf shacks in a stunning garden with a pool in front of the famous Tuason surf break. Each little house features a double room on the ground floor with instant garden access and a double room upstairs with balcony.

After a short ride with a cool propeller plane from Manila or Cebu over emerald green islands in turquoise water, you arrive at the tiny airport of Siargao. You will be amazed by the lush green scenery during your 1,5 hours long transfer to the resort.
Before dinner and the welcome cocktail party on the beach, you still have time for a dip in the ocean.

After the first theory lesson, beginners meet their private surf instructors and head to the ocean. Advanced surfers are taken by boat to one of the area's reef-breaks.
For dinner, we visit one of the locals' favorite spots.

Before diving into the waves, we grab a rainbow smoothie bowl at Shaka Café. After two days of surfing, you'll feel it in your muscles, but the incredible massages available just opposite our resort will dissolve any soreness.
Tonight's dinner spot is a tapas restaurant featuring fresh, local produce and live music. If you're in the mood for a little party, La Santa is the place to be.

We start the day in the best possible way with a sunrise surf session.
After breakfast, we continue our adventure by heading to Corregidor Island, a secluded spot far from the typical tourist paths.
There, we'll go hiking, enjoy some beach time, and indulge in a seafood feast.

After the surf theory lesson, the practice session is recorded on camera for later analysis. We have a refreshing smoothie bowl for lunch, then check out the famous Cloud 9 surf tower. In the afternoon, we recommend another massage or some free surfing if you still have energy.
For dinner, we visit a friend's house to enjoy a classic home-cooked Filipino meal.

During the final theoretical surf lesson, we analyze the footage recorded earlier to help you correct mistakes and improve faster.
We practice our moves in the water, then take a rest before a big party at our resort.

We hop into a minivan and head to the northern part of the island.
We have lunch in the small town of Burgos, then take a boat ride to the stunningly beautiful Sugba Lagoon, where we do a SUP session in the national park.

We start our typical day in paradise with a surf session and a fresh tropical breakfast.
Then we stock up on fresh seafood at the local market and head to Daku Island, where local ladies cook a wonderful meal for us.
We continue island hopping at Guyam Island, enjoying a gorgeous sunset as our backdrop.

Last organised surf session in the favourite spot of the group's choice.
Souvenir shopping in the afternoon followed by a Filipino-style fiesta at the Shaka bar, with an eventual farewell party to toast all the adventures.

After finishing the last smoothie bowls for breakfast
we head for the airport and say goodbye to paradise, filled
with amazing memories and new friendships.
