Description

Ericeira’s name comes from the word “ouriços”, which is the Old Galician-Portuguese name for sea urchins – as you may well guess, there is an abundance of sea-urchins along the beaches. The blue and white themed town is a blend of modern and traditional: you will find old bakeries and classic fish restaurants as well as new wave cafes and contemporary tapas eateries. Ericeira is a multicultural spot and a popular seaside resort that has retained its authentic charm, with narrow cobbled streets and surfboards alongside freshly painted fishing boats.

Ericeira has a reputation for good waves all year long. No wonder it earned the World Surfing Reserve title! Ericeira was only the second Reserve to be distinguished worldwide and the first one in Europe.

This is our first destination for organizing a month-long stay, and it truly lives up to its reputation as a surf paradise. You can catch great waves every day, and you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to enjoy quality time off, whether it’s doing yoga or simply relaxing on one of the stunning natural beaches.

Surfing lessons are led by Lorenzo, our professional local surf coach. Ericeira boasts a variety of beaches suitable for all skill levels. Lorenzo will choose the best beach for each session based on the swell, wind direction, tidal movements, and the skill level of the group.

Mild and moderate oceanic climate, 16-28°C, with water temperatures between 16-22°C. Plenty of sunshine, but it can also be rainy and windy. We mostly wear shorts and t-shirts or sweatshirts, but you should also bring warmer clothing and a waterproof, warm jacket, as the weather can be unpredictable. In this region of the Atlantic Ocean, it is always necessary to wear a wetsuit.

Maximum of 8 people, usually mixed nationalities. Solo travelers, group of friends and couples with varying surfing skills and experience.

We make high-quality content in all our camps. You will receive the photos after returning home to remember all the amazing memories.

You will need an insurance that covers surf accidents. You can contact us and we are happy to recommend the most suitable one.

Seaside lunches and gourmet dinners at the best venues in town, including local fish bars and Michelin-nominated restaurants nearby. Ericeira is renowned for its fresh local seafood, such as grilled octopus and the famous goose neck barnacle. Some evenings, we'll host BBQ parties or serve home-baked codfish and salmon on the terrace of our villa.

Ericeira is often regarded as the surf capital of Portugal and offers an impressive variety of surf spots, crammed into just a few kilometers long coastline. Some of these are typical beach breaks and are perfect for beginners. For seasoned surfers, Ericeira and its surroundings are like paradise on earth. There is always a spot to check out, including the world famous long and hollow wave of Ribeira D´Ilhas. This surf town is your best bet to have good quality consistent waves in March. Some days we might even venture further up north to Peniche or south towards Carcavelos beach and the other surf spots along the Lisbon coast. This is also the place to go when the western swells are too big or blown out.

Comfortable minivans with AC for transfers from airport, to surf sessions and to all sights, hiking trips and recreational activities. To some of the beaches you can literally walk barefoot from our villa!

When we're not surfing, we will hike to some breathtaking locations such as the famous Sintra Palace or Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the continent. In addition to day trips to charming Lisbon, Portugal offers numerous historical sites to explore, including Obidos and Nazaré, the latter being home to the biggest waves on Earth. We'll also have the opportunity to enjoy wine tastings and savor the amazing local cuisine at one of the nearby Quintas.

Depending on spending habits your budget for the trip should range from €500-1000. For reference, a meal is between €10-20.

The accommodation was nice, with a real ocean atmosphere and close to the city. It was great to have free use of the rental cars.

31-day itinerary

As the name of our trip suggests, this is a home office camp where everyone will be working remotely during most of the day.

This means we cannot provide an exact program schedule like on many of our other tours.

Instead, we use our scenic oceanside villa as our base, working from there and catching some fabulous waves whenever possible, depending on the best conditions at the time.

We take everyone’s work schedule into consideration, and arrange the day trips (to Lisbon, Nazaré, Sintra and many more) mainly for the weekends.

In the meantime, we make sure to give space to both individual and community programs - the most important takeaway of this camp is to have a great and active time while working in your normal schedule.

During the first week of our camp, the Hungarian Surf Fest will take place at Costa da Caparica, which is a 40-minute drive from Ericeira.

A transfer will take the team there to cheer on the competitors, and the bravest among us can even participate in the competition.

Obviously yes, at least half of the group always consists of beginners. We have found perfect conditions for beginners each year, and with the help of the professional instructors, you will be able to learn the basics very effectively.

Mild and moderate oceanic climate 15-25°C, water temperature 14-22°C. Lots of sunshine with a possibility of rain and windy weather. Mostly shorts and T-shirts but do carry warmer clothes and a warm and waterproof jacket with you, as the weather can still be a bit tricky. Please note that in this part of the Atlantic you basically always have to wear a wetsuit.

For experienced surfers, Ericeira and surroundings is like heaven on earth. You can choose from over 15 surf spots in just 8 kilometers of coastline. In case you want to try something different during your month-long stay, you’ll find the beautiful beach breaks of Santa Cruz and Praia Azul a 20-km-drive away.. The famous beach breaks of Peniche are also just an hour drive. To the south, you have Praia do Magoito, Praia Grande and Praia do Guincho. You can even venture further south towards Carcavelos beach and the other surf spots along the Lisbon coast. This is also the place to go when the western swells are too big or blown out.

When not on the surfboards you can always enjoy Lisbon’s vibrant sites, museum and restaurant scene. As this wouldn't be enough already, there are a lot of natural and historical wonders around enough for several day trips.

Not at all. There are always people who come alone, so you can be sure that you’ll make new friends!

It really depends on spending habits. We recommend a budget range of €400-600. For reference, a meal is between €5-15.

The local currency is euro. There are plenty of exchange offices at the airport and also several ATMs close to our accommodation.

Ericeira is in Portugal so most nationalities don’t need a Visa.
