GoBeyond Guide: Find the perfect ride for you!

Everything you need to know in one place

GoBeyond editorial

Some places in the world are simply best explored on a motorcycle. That’s exactly why GoBeyond designs tours to destinations where the roads, landscapes, and local culture come together to create an unforgettable experience.

Riding a motorcycle isn’t just about covering long distances quickly and directly – it’s about fully immersing yourself in the journey. You smell the air, feel the temperature shift, touch the roadside plants, and interact more closely with locals. Plus, motorcycling offers unmatched flexibility. If something catches your eye, you can stop, take a photo, or start a conversation. If you hit a dead end, you turn around; if a hidden path looks intriguing, you take it. And while traffic stands still, you keep moving. This is a freedom unlike any other.

However, these routes require deep local knowledge, experience, and the right infrastructure – things that are hard to arrange alone. With decades of motorcycle touring expertise and a trusted network of local partners, GoBeyond ensures you can focus entirely on the adventure. Your gear is transported separately, and a support vehicle carries a mechanic, tools, and spare parts. If anything goes wrong, help is always right there, so your only job is to enjoy the ride.

With so many options, choosing the right trip can be overwhelming. That’s why our tour leaders have put together this guide – to help you find the motorcycle journey that’s truly made for you.

JAPAN MOTORCYCLE TOUR

Difficulty level: 2/5

Conditions & required experience:

Over 8 days, we’ll cover approximately 2,000 km on pristine, often glass-smooth asphalt roads. Adapting to left-hand traffic is quick, and Japanese drivers are polite and patient. There’s no extreme terrain, but expect 6–8 hours of riding per day, possibly in rain.

Motorcycles: Yamaha XSR700, Kawasaki Z650, or similar Japanese models.

Accommodation: A mix of hotels and traditional ryokan inns, with both tatami-style and Western beds. Many stays include onsen baths, and yes, Japan’s famous heated toilet seats will be a daily luxury.

Why Japan?

Japan offers not only perfect roads and stunning landscapes but also a deep cultural journey: authentic cuisine, traditional inns, ancient temples, and natural hot springs, all wrapped in a carefully preserved heritage.

This tour is less about high-adrenaline motorcycling and more about exploration on two wheels – from sacred shrines to winding mountain passes, from buzzing metropolises to tranquil rural villages. Japan is exotic yet efficient, a distant culture yet a flawlessly modern world. It’s an adventure without stepping too far out of your comfort zone – the perfect balance of discovery and ease.

MONGOLIA MOTORCYCLE TOUR

Difficulty Level: 3/5

Conditions & Required Experience:

70% off-road, 30% asphalt – endless open landscapes with rolling hills, lakes, rivers, mud, sand, and rugged terrain. If you’re determined to master off-road riding and can confidently handle 6-10 hours of daily riding, this is your adventure.

Motorcycles: Suzuki DRZ 400 or GasGas/KTM 350.

Accommodation: Two nights in a luxury hotel in Ulaanbaatar (hot showers and WiFi included), then true nomadic life – staying in authentic yurts owned by local families, experiencing their legendary hospitality firsthand.

Why Mongolia?

Mongolia is pure unfiltered freedom, a vast, open world where nomadic traditions and untouched nature collide. No towering peaks – just endless rolling green pastures, where shifting rivers sculpt the landscape and the natural world reigns supreme.

The nomadic yurts, scattered like candle flames on a vast green cake, may look modest from the outside, but step inside, and you’ll find a colorful, time-travel-like world. This fading lifestyle remains vividly alive here, a rare cultural gem in a world of growing sameness.

For riders, the biggest challenge is the terrain and unpredictable weather, but this is an adventure – not an extreme endurance test. If you crave boundless landscapes, authentic encounters, and destinations untouched by mass tourism, Mongolia is for you. It’s the world’s least densely populated country, where your only company might be nomads and the endless steppe.

TANZANIA MOTORCYCLE TOUR

Difficulty Level: 3/5

Conditions & Required Experience: This is true adventure motorcycling: dusty dirt roads, gravel, sand tracks, steep climbs, river crossings – everything you could ask for. Asphalt is rare, and where it does exist, traffic is chaotic. It’s not an easy ride, but if you love challenges and can handle 6-8 hours of varied terrain in any conditions, the reward is incredible.

Motorcycles: Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Accommodation: In Tanzania, it’s not just the landscapes that are breathtaking – the accommodations are just as special. We start in a beautifully restored Bauhaus villa, then move on to luxury tented camps and lodges on the savanna. And at the end of the adventure, we’ll relax on Zanzibar’s white sandy beaches in a 4-5 star eco-resort.

Why Tanzania?

The raw beauty of Africa, endless savannas, roaming wildlife, and the majestic Kilimanjaro – exploring this land on a motorcycle is an unparalleled experience. You’ll feel the terrain beneath you, the scent of the red dust, the heat of the wind, and ride through landscapes few ever reach.

Prepare for heat, intense sun, and fine dust that gets into everything, but in return, you’ll end every day in luxury and finish the journey with a cocktail in hand, gazing at Zanzibar’s turquoise waters.

BOLIVIA MOTORCYCLE TOUR

Difficulty Level: 3/5

Conditions & Required Experience: Bolivia offers a diverse mix of terrains: smooth asphalt, dusty dirt roads, gravel, mud, and river crossings. If you can confidently ride long distances in any conditions, this trip is for you. The altitude changes and varied landscapes make it an adventure that demands adaptability and endurance.

Motorcycles: Royal Enfield Himalayan

Accommodation: The journey begins with a luxury hotel in Santa Cruz to ease into the South American climate. Along the way, we stay in some truly unique locations: a family-run farm, a former telegraph house where Che Guevara was once captured, and a stunning eco-lodge overlooking Death Road. In the Uyuni Salt Flats, we spend two nights in the world’s first five-star salt hotel. Additional nights are split between cozy small-town hotels and a final luxury stop in La Paz.

Why Bolivia?

This tour is a deep dive into South America’s raw beauty and cultural contrasts. Every day offers something different: remote indigenous villages, lush jungles, endless salt flats, and wild, empty landscapes.

Bolivia is constantly shifting – one moment you’re crossing the stark, alien-like expanse of the Salar de Uyuni, the next you’re climbing misty Andean roads lined with cloud forests. The altitude, diverse terrain, and rapid cultural transitions are a challenge, but if you thrive on change and unpredictability, this is your ride.

HIMALAYA MOTORCYCLE TOUR

Difficulty Level: 2/5

Conditions & Required Experience: The Himalayan tour is a true challenge, not only because of the varied terrain but also due to the high-altitude conditions. While the route is mostly paved, the road surface is not always perfect, and there are sections where you’ll need to cross streams. The countless switchbacks, extreme elevations, and dust still make this a demanding adventure.

Motorcycles: Royal Enfield Bullet 500 or Royal Enfield Himalayan

Accommodation: We start and end the trip with a night in an exclusive five-star hotel in Delhi to acclimate and unwind. During the ride, we stay in nine nights of comfortable three-star hotels with hot showers and WiFi, plus three nights of glamping-style tents in the mountains, complete with real beds and private bathrooms. One night will be spent on an overnight bus journey from Delhi to Manali, where the true adventure begins.

Why the Himalayas?

This journey is for those who want not only to ride but also to explore an ancient, living culture at the roof of the world. In Delhi, you’ll get a taste of the chaos and the many faces of India, then in Ladakh’s Buddhist regions, you’ll be welcomed by mountain-guarded monasteries and daily life woven with spirituality. This is not just a tour but a gateway into another world. The terrain is challenging – rocky roads, steep drop-offs, and loose stones – but if you arrive with respect and an open heart, the Himalayas will reward you with an unforgettable experience.

+1 BALKAN RALLY

Difficulty Level: 2/5

Conditions & Required Experience: The Balkan Rally is an adventure designed for classic vehicles, where the terrain must be manageable even for 40-50-year-old motorcycles and cars. However, the diverse Balkan roads – long distances, mountain switchbacks, dusty dirt tracks, gravel sections, and occasionally pothole-ridden asphalt – put both the machines and drivers to the test. Proper vehicle preparation and patience are essential because here, it’s not about speed but endurance and the experience itself.

Motorcycles: Varies by participant. Check the official entry categories on the event page.

Accommodation: Each day’s ride ends in some of the Balkans’ best four- and five-star hotels, where comfort and hospitality provide the perfect contrast to the long hours on the road.

Why the Balkan Rally?

The Balkan Rally is not just a tour but an interactive adventure game, where your motorcycle or car is the key to participating in the experience. Exploring the Balkans here is not just about following routes but about a shared journey, where you discover the region’s history and hidden treasures as part of an international community. It’s perfect for those who love nostalgia and see travel not merely as getting from A to B, but as an experience in itself.
