Surfing has always been on my bucket list.
My summer in 2017 was almost entirely spent working. It was during this time that I decided not to wait any longer and applied to the GoBeyond surfing camp in Morocco. A dream came true. I fell in love with surfing irrevocably, and I craved practice so much that I even signed up for the camp in Sri Lanka while still in Morocco.
At first, I wasn’t afraid of anything; I felt capable of anything. The sea and the ocean taught me an important lesson: I had to learn to respect the power of the water and find my own limits. I must admit there were a few nerve-wracking situations. I believe that overcoming fears and practicing patience with oneself are significant challenges in surfing. It’s not an easy sport; I always feel like I’m continuously learning through it. Perhaps that’s part of what makes it so attractive to me.
So, if you’re considering this sport, all I can advise is to dive in as soon as you can! Surfing can take you to beautiful places and allows you to experience true freedom and a fantastic sense of community.
The easiest way is to sign up for a surf camp right away, as the organizers can help you with both learning and equipment by taking the burden of surf rentals and accommodation off your shoulders, and they also know the coolest restaurants in the area.
