Hiking with a side of cake

A tight-knit group of friends wanted to mark a birthday with a memorable getaway. They sought a private experience free from other travelers and chose the Azores, where they knew we had the local know-how. The birthday celebrant had previously visited with us and had a fantastic time. This time, they opted for a shorter trip than our usual surf camp itinerary, shifting their focus from surfing to hiking, dining, and enjoying the local nightlife.

To create a more relaxed itinerary, we scheduled just a few surf lessons to get them acquainted with the sport, rather than daily sessions. Instead, we emphasized hiking and exploring the island’s stunning natural beauty. Recognizing their love for local cuisine, we highlighted gastronomic experiences throughout their trip. They dined at some of the finest local restaurants and enjoyed an unforgettable outdoor barbecue at a waterfall. The adventure also featured a visit to a gin museum and a trip to a pineapple plantation, where they savored piña coladas made with fresh pineapple juice—creating a birthday celebration they’ll always remember.
